Tanqueray London Dry Gin 94.6 proof…$34.99

Tanqueray London Dry Gin is an enduring classic that most drinkers have already formed an opinion on. Fans of gin and classic gin, will appreciate the drier, more juniper-forward profile which stands in contrast to many of its peers which balance juniper with citrus and additional spice botanicals.

Barr Hill Gin 90 proof…$39.99

Barr Hill Gin is one of the finest American distilled gins on the market today. Fans of classic gins will love the bold juniper at the fore, while the added sweetness from the honey adds complexity and makes this a gin for more than just juniper-heads.

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin 86 proof…$32.99

Fans of citrus-forward gins are apt to find Gunpowder Gin a pleasant, if not one-note alternative. It has the herbal complexity of bathtub style gins but also the balance of old school favorites. If that seems like high praise— it indeed is. Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin is a delightful, well-balanced, but botanically loud contemporary style gin— that doesn’t forget its roots and the juniper.

Empress 1908 Gin 85 proof…$44.99

Empress 1908 is a slightly contemporary style gin with a heady citrus, juniper and coriander accord that takes copious cues from gin’s 300 year history. Despite the color, don’t come to Empress 1908 Gin expecting something floral or violet-flavored. This is a mixing gin with a strong emphasis on showmanship.

Bimini BR1 (Barrel Reserve #1) Gin 101 proof…$33.99

The gin is barreled at full distillation strength (180 proof) for three months in three different kinds of twice-used barrels: Ex-bourbon Apple Brandy, Ex-bourbon Rum, Ex-bourbon Sea Salt. The results are blended and diluted to 101 proof and rested in stainless steel for six weeks before bottling. Without the heavy oak and char qualities of new barrels, the familiar botanical notes of Bimini Gin are enhanced rather than overshadowed. The citrusy notes of hops and grapefruit are intensified with hints of salinity. The juniper upfront mingles with tree fruit in the middle palate and then subsides into a lingering caramel and vanilla finish.

Barr Hill Reserve ‘Tom Cat’ Gin 86 proof…$54

The juniper is bold on the nose. Bright and coniferous, it has resinous spruce character as well. This is a bold piney aged gin. Certainly amidst the woody aromas are tannic oak, cedar plank and other woody aromas; however, they are all secondary to the juniper on the nose of Tom Cat Gin. Unusually, after all that time in a new barrel the juniper is almost more prominent than it is in their unaged Barr Hill Gin.
