Montepulciano d’Abruzzo

Regular Price $12.99

Sale Price $9.99

Looking for that bright and juicy warm weather red? Look no further!

Montepulciano is Italy’s second most planted indigenous grape varietal, planted primarily in central, eastern and southern regions but not in Tuscany, where the town of Montepulciano lies. It’s thought that Tuscany’s Sangiovese grape and Montepulciano (the grape) are distantly related, but there seems to be no other connections between the respective Montepulciano(s). I know, it’s confusing.

Regardless, this wine shows bright, fresh and full cherry and berry flavors with moderate acidity. It’s in a very easy drinking style and takes very well to a bit of a chill. Unadorned by oak and not sweetened (like too many Californian wines in this price range), it’s plush and round and adaptable to all manners of food, or without food at all.  Best of all, it’s really, really cheap, without the the cheap wine emptiness. Drink it up!
