Champagne tasting (June 17th 2017)

We opened the doors of The French Paradox Wines on June 12th and celebrated with a fine champagne tasting with a selection of Brut, Premier Cru and Rose. Here are the tasting notes:

  • Clavelin ‘Comte Brut’ Cremant du Jura
Regular Price 22.99/ Sale price 17.99
100% chardonnay from this lesser known region in the east of France, the Champagne-like flavors belie its price tag. Apple flavors followed by a crisp, lime-y finish, drink this with oysters or goat cheese

  • Albert Mann Cremant d’Alsace
Regular Price 29.99/ Sale price 23.99
A delightful blend of Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Pinot Gris and Riesling, this wine pleases with its freshness and complexity. A bit of brioche and lemon closes the deal.

  • Bernard Fouquet Vouvray Brut
Regular Price 22.99/ Sale price 17.99
100% Chenin Blanc from the famous Loire region of Vouvray, this beautiful bubbly shows bright fruit flavors (melon, pear) and a citrus finish. A bit of roundness in the mid-palate adds to overall weight and balance of the wine.

  • J Lassalle Cuvee Preference
Regular Price 39.99/ Sale price 31.99
Founded by Jules Lassalle in 1942, this estate has been operated by his widow, daughter and now granddaughter since his passing in 1982. The house has stayed true to its style of finesse-driven wines that nonetheless makes lasting impressions. 60% Pinot Meunier 20% Chardonnay 20% Pinot Noir

  • Veuve Fourny Blanc de Blanc Brut Premier Cru
Regular Price 54.99/ Sale price 43.99
100% chardonnay..this is a classic Champagne that stands along side of every other great Champagne produced. Rich and full bodied, with a crisp and enlivening finish, its matches beautifully with, well, everything.

  • Michael Briday Cremant Rose de Bourgogne
Regular Price 24.99/ Sale price 19.99
100% Pinot Noir…rich and full with raspberry aromas up front. It’s really quite lovely in the mouth with bright berry flavors and persistent acidity on the finish.
